We are thrilled to announce that GETM4 is the first Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Horizon Europe project to be launched in North Macedonia! This significant milestone was unveiled at a prestigious event organized by the Slovenian-Macedonian Business Club, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Slovenia’s accession to the European Union.

Presentation about the GETM4 in North Macedonia.

The event not only marked an important historical moment for Slovenia but also highlighted the growing collaboration between Slovenia and North Macedonia. It provided a perfect backdrop for the introduction of GETM4, a project that works to enhance scientific research and innovation in North Macedonia and in other countries through the support of the MSCA.

What is Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)?

Marie SkĹ‚odowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) is a key component of Horizon Europe, the EU’s flagship research and innovation framework program. Named after the pioneering physicist and chemist Marie SkĹ‚odowska-Curie, the MSCA aims to support researchers at all stages of their careers, irrespective of nationality. The actions foster interdisciplinary research and international cooperation, making it easier for researchers to work across borders and sectors.

MSCA supports a wide range of activities, including:

  • Staff Exchanges: Encouraging collaboration and knowledge transfer between organizations from different sectors and countries.
  • Doctoral Networks: These networks provide high-quality doctoral education to train a new generation of creative, entrepreneurial, and innovative early-stage researchers.
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships: Offering support to experienced researchers to undertake advanced training, international mobility, and career development.
  • Co-funding of regional, national, and international programs: This ensures that research programs align with the goals of the MSCA, broadening the impact of its funding.

By participating in MSCA, researchers gain access to top-tier training and career opportunities, enhancing their skills and broadening their horizons.

The Significance of GETM4

GETM4 stands as a beacon of scientific advancement and international cooperation that positively impacts North Macedonia. As the country’s first Staff Exchange MSCA project, GETM4 will pave the way for future research initiatives, strengthening North Macedonia’s presence in the European research landscape. The project aims to leverage the MSCA’s support to foster innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, driving scientific and technological progress in this region and worldwide.
